The headline feature of the new Borderlands 3 patch is, of course, the increase to the game’s level cap. Plus, it opens the door to the possibility of future incremental increases. According to Gearbox, the studio; “will have more to talk about in the future concerning level cap increases and character growth.”
Additionally, the new patch gives players much greater control over the game in general. Players will now be able to skip cutscenes, for example, and toggle in-game events on or off via the main menu. Guardian Ranks can also now be toggled on or off, either individually or in their entirety. Now that the patch is live, Guardian Ranks will actually be off by default. Finally, the patch also gives players the option to play the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite as it originally launched; True Takedown Mode will re-scale the Takedown for 4 players only and can be turned on via a switch by the Takedown door. According to Gearbox, future Takedowns will have both scaling options available at launch.
Of course, the patch also features a wide variety of general bug-fixes and tweaks. In this case, a large number of stability improvements have been implemented, addressing freezes and crashes that were occurring throughout the game. You can find the full list of fixes in the official patch notes on the Borderlands website. Finally, the patch also caught up the Stadia version of the game, launching the Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot DLC on that platform.
