Six months since the game’s launch last year, Borderlands 3 is finally coming to Steam on the 13th of March. Now, ahead of that upcoming release, a Borderlands 3 pre-load is now available on the platform. If you’ve pre-ordered the game, you can now make sure that everything’s downloaded and installed ready for launch day.
Borderlands 3 Pre-Load is Now Available on Steam
The Borderlands 3 release date on Steam was revealed by Gearbox roughly one week ago, following the release of the DLC trailer for Guns, Love, and Tentacles. Until now, Borderlands 3 has been exclusively available on the Epic Games Store for PC gamers, but on the 13th, it will also be available on Steam. Given that the game is quite a sizable file, all told, gamers who have pre-ordered should certainly take advantage of the pre-load option if they can. Otherwise, you’ll be facing a rather lengthy download on launch day.
When the Borderlands 3 Steam edition launches, not only will players have access to the full game and all of the DLC released so far, but Gearbox will also be implementing PC crossplay. Enabled thanks to the game’s SHiFT system, PC crossplay will allow PC gamers to play together, regardless of whether they’re on Steam or the Epic Games Store. An option to enable or disable this feature will appear in the game’s “PC Cross-Play” screen.
Borderlands 3 will be launching on Steam at 7:00 AM PST on the 13th of March; Friday morning, later this week. New players won’t have long to wait until the next big content release too. After all, the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC will be launching just ten days later, on the 23rd. That will be the second of four story DLCs for Borderlands 3, with the remaining two coming later this year. Of course, Gearbox has yet to reveal what they will be, although they have released one teaser for the next one…
