Revenge of the Cartels, the new Borderlands 3 seasonal event, is now live in-game after today’s update, which also introduced Loot the Universe and Mayhem Mode 2.0. The event, which is only the second ever Borderlands 3 seasonal event, features an all-new area, new enemies, and new Legendary loot.
The Borderlands 3 Revenge of the Cartels Event
Revenge of the Cartels will be live in Borderlands 3 from today for the next six weeks, ending on the 4th of June. During this time, players can speak with Maurice aboard Sanctuary III to acquire a new repeatable quest. This quest requires players to hunt down Cartel Operatives on the various planets, prompting Cartel Thugs to teleport in to get revenge. Eliminating these enemies nets players coordinates which can be turned in to Maurice. Once he has enough coordinates, Maurice can send players to the Villa Ultraviolet; the event’s new area.
At the Villa Ultraviolet, players will face waves of Cartel enemies from one of three gangs; each of which has a different set of enemies and abilities. The visit to the Villa culminates in a confrontation with the leader of the Eridium Cult, Joey Ultraviolet. Just like the format of the Bloody Harvest seasonal event, this area is repeatable. In fact, players will never face the same gang twice, ensuring that repeat visits will always be a bit different.
Of course, the Revenge of the Cartels event also features plenty of new Legendary gear items and cosmetics. Most of the latter are available as rewards for completing new in-game challenges during the course of the event. The Legendary items, on the other hand, will drop from Cartel enemies; particularly the Underbosses of the three gangs and other Badass-tier Cartel enemies. Players can also get more Legendary loot drops from certain planets during the Loot the Universe event, which is running at the same time as Revenge of the Cartels.
