Revenge of the Cartels is the second-ever Borderlands 3 seasonal event, and currently live now, at least until early June. The event introduces new enemies, a new quest-line, and new bosses, plus an all-new areas; the Villa Ultraviolet. As it turns out, the event is so large that it even has its own soundtrack, and that soundtrack is now available to stream online.
The Borderlands 3 Revenge of the Cartels Soundtrack
In keeping with the aesthetic of Revenge of the Cartels, the event’s soundtrack is heavily inspired by 80s-style synth music. It isn’t merely a couple of extra songs either, despite being the soundtrack for a seasonal event; the whole soundtrack consists of a full twelve tracks, including the boss music for the event’s Cartel bosses. The soundtrack is available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and Tidal. It can also be bought and downloaded on iTunes.
The Revenge of the Cartels soundtrack was composed by Finishing Move; the duo of composers Brian White and Brian Lee Trifon. Finishing Move worked on portions of the main Borderlands 3 soundtrack, and also composed the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite soundtrack. In fact, you can read an interview we did last year with the two composers here, about their work on the game and what makes the music of Borderlands 3 so unique.
Revenge of the Cartels will be live in Borderlands 3 for just over another month. (The seasonal event is due to end on the 4th of June.) With the ongoing Loot the Universe event also live throughout most of May, Borderlands 3 fans should have plenty to keep them occupied. Of course, by the time we reach June, Gearbox may well be ready to reveal the upcoming third story DLC; an expansion which is presently expected to launch sometime in the summer. On that score, fans will have to wait and see.
