Gearbox has certainly taken a liberal approach to marketing in recent months, releasing trailer after trailer for their upcoming game. While some have focused on the specific playable characters and planets, most have simply been action-packed glimpses into what fans can expect from gameplay. The latest Borderlands 3 trailer is no different.
“The Borderlands Are Yours”: New Borderlands 3 Trailer
Entitled “The Borderlands are Yours,” the new Borderlands 3 trailer doesn’t go into much detail. This is hardly an unfamiliar approach; several Borderlands 3 trailers which have already been revealed are very similar. However, this new trailer does offer glimpses at some new enemy types, locations (including the newly unveiled planet Athenas), and possibly also story cut-scenes.
Gearbox now has less than one month before the release of Borderlands 3, and fans can no doubt expect the studio to ramp up their promotional campaign in the coming weeks. Although Gearbox did recently release trailers for each of the four new Vault Hunters, relatively little has been shown hinting at the game’s story or villains. Fans currently know very little indeed about the Calypso twins, for instance. It could be that Gearbox is simply saving all that for release; after all they’re succeeding in stoking hype without deviating much from action-packed Borderlands 3 trailers. However, it’s also possible that the studio may give fans some more in-depth teasers between now and launch.
One area which fans might be able to expect more detail is the game’s planets. Athenas and Promethea have now been revealed, leaving Eden-6 still to go. However, around two months ago Gearbox released “Episode 1” of “Claptrap’s Interplanetary Series“; a trailer which gave fans a glimpse of Pandora. It seems natural to assume that further episodes of that series would continue on to the other planets. However, it’s unclear at present whether Gearbox actually plans to continue the series. Thus far, neither Promethea, Eden-6, nor Athenas have had trailers of their own. As such, it’s possible that fans may get to see those planetary Borderlands 3 trailers in the lead-up to release.
