Starting today, Gearbox is celebrating the upcoming two-year anniversary since the release of Borderlands 3, by providing the community with a full five weeks of in-game events. Three events in total will be available during this period, offering a range of bonuses and extra loot drops.
Borderlands 3 Anniversary: Five Weeks of Events
“Two years since launch and Borderlands 3 is still going strong,” writes Gearbox; “all thanks to you – the Borderlands community”. The actual two-year anniversary of the launch of Borderlands 3 will be on the 13th of September, in just over one month’s time. However, leading up to that date, Gearbox will be running a series of weekly mini-events. The first of these starts today, on the 12th of August.
This first event is a “fan-favourite” called Loot the Universe, which Gearbox has run on more than a few past occasions. This event will be live for the next four weeks, up until the 9th of September. Each week during Loot the Universe, the event will move to a different planet, boosting loot drops in each of the planet’s regions. More specifically, different zones on each planet will offer an increased chance of players finding a specific type of Legendary item (Shotguns, Shields, etc.). The order of planets will be as follows:
- August 12th – August 19th: Pandora
- August 19th – August 26th; Promethea
- August 26th – September 2nd: Eden-6
- September 2nd – September 9th: Nekrotafeyo
On the 9th of September, Loot the Universe will end, and two other events will start simultaneously; Mayhem Made Mild and Show Me the Eridium. These two events will both be live for a single week, ending on the 16th. The former will ensure that players only encounter Easy modifiers when playing Mayhem Mode. The latter, meanwhile, simply increases the chances of Eridium drops while discounting various items in the Eridium store.
