Borderlands 3 December Update Improves Matchmaking and More

Earlier today, Gearbox launched Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, the first major Borderlands 3 DLC. However, alongside that expansion, the studio also released a new Borderlands 3 update for December; an update which makes notably improvements to the game’s matchmaking, as well as to the Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite.

Borderlands 3 Update: December Patch Notes

Following on from a Borderlands 3 update earlier this month which laid the groundwork for today’s DLC release, the new December update focuses mainly on two key areas for improvements; matchmaking and the new Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite. When it comes to matchmaking, Gearbox is implementing a variety of backend changes to improve matchmaking in general. Additionally, the developers have moved the matchmaking option for the Takedown within the Social panel to make it easier for players to access.

As a further change, the Takedown matchmaking will no longer send players into the Takedown without a full party. As the studio writes; “We believe players would prefer matchmaking take a little longer in order to enter the Takedown with a full party”. However, the studio does note that they will be monitoring this change to see whether it works as intended.

When it comes to new hotfixes, the new update also makes another change to the Takedown; decreasing the shields and armour of the Maliwan Deathspheres. “The recent patch improved the navigation of the Deathspheres in the Takedown,” explain Gearbox; “As a result, these enemies have become much more difficuly to track and hit. To balance this change, we are lowering their armour and shield values”. In addition, both Zane and Moze have gotten some bug fixes, while Agonizer 9000 has had some tweaks to stop loot falling through the floor and to ensure that Terror drops loot properly. The full patch notes can be seen on the official Borderlands website.
