First announced back in March, the Borderlands Legendary Collection is due to launch on the Nintendo Switch in just a few days’ time. Coming to the platform on the 29th of May, this coming Friday, the Legendary Collection includes all three of the original Borderlands titles, along with all of their DLC expansions and add-ons.
The Borderlands Legendary Collection on Nintendo Switch
Earlier today, Gearbox released a new “What’s Included” trailer for the Borderlands Legendary Collection on Switch; serving as a reminder to fans of the impending release. The announcement that the collection was coming to the Switch was made almost exactly two months ago during Nintendo Direct. Coinciding with the announcement of Borderlands 3’s Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC, which has now released, the Legendary Collection marks the first time that a Borderlands game will be available on a Nintendo console.
The Legendary Collection does not include Borderlands 3, which is unlikely to come to the Switch anytime soon. (The game is likely too large for the Switch to run, at least not without a graphical downgrade.) However, it does include a full three other games; the Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Each game comes with all of their respective DLC. All told, that amounts to four extra add-ons for Borderlands and the Pre-Sequel, and more than fourteen for Borderlands 2.
Of course, all three games will also feature up to four-player co-op, just like on other platforms. In fact, not only will they feature online co-op with up to four players, but if you dock your Switch, you’ll even be able to play with two-player split-screen co-op. Finally, the Legendary Collection reportedly features several new motion controls which were specifically designed for the Nintendo Switch. According to Gearbox, these will help players to “line up headshots,” among other things.
