Borderlands Remaster: Everything We Know So Far

Rumors about Borderlands Remaster are all over the place alongside Borderlands 3 rumors, despite the fact that none of them have been officially announced yet. Here’s what we know so far about the rumored Borderlands Remaster video game.

Gearbox Software’s CEO Randy Pitchford once said that the studio is considering releasing a remaster version of Borderlands as long as Borderlands: The Handsome Collection sells. The Handsome Collection includes Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, with the first Borderlands video game clearly missing from this collection. This led to speculations of a possible Borderlands Remaster releasing side by side with the rumored Borderlands 3.

The Korean Game Rating Board rated Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, which led to various fans predicting a probable Game of the Year Edition Borderlands release in the near future. However, for now the Borderlands Remaster title has prevailed over it mainly because the previous remaster release of Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel owned a special unique title, leading us to the conclusion that if there is going to be a remaster of Borderlands, its title might be anything.

It is blatantly obvious that Gearbox is aiming at making their most popular franchise playable on any console. Back in 2015, publisher 2K stated to the fans that they are currently designing a spin-off called Tales From Borderlands specifically for the next generation of consoles, making the remaster edition look really promising.

Furthermore, Gearbox studio has already started recruitment for a new game with Pitchford stating that it is actually for the “big” game. Judging by the publicity of Borderlands, everyone quickly assumed that this new game is a Borderlands-related video game. Since Borderlands 3 is also strongly rumored, our best guess is that they will probably be announced together at some point.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a bit longer for such an announcement after Gearbox chose not to appear at this year’s E3. The Borderlands 3 release date has been pushed even further, with many speculating it will be between April 2019 and March 2020, which means that a possible Borderlands Remaster release would come around that period.
