As part of Destiny 2’s evolving post-Forsaken world, Bungie recently added in a series of new Exotic weapon quests. One of those quests, which awards the hand cannon Malfeasance, doesn’t even trigger until certain random criteria have occurred. However, as Bungie recently noted in a new blog post, an upcoming update will make the criteria slightly less random.
Destiny 2 Malfeasance Quest Tweaks
Currently, Destiny 2 players can’t begin the Malfeasance quest until a specific Primeval boss spawns in the game’s Gambit mode. The boss, called an Ascendant Primeval Servitor, has a fairly low spawn rate. This is especially true during the off-weeks of the three-week Taken curse cycle currently affecting the game’s Dreaming City region. What’s worse, players then need to kill the boss once it does spawn. This can make even starting the quest a nightmare since players have to be incredibly lucky twice over.
Thankfully, Bungie agrees with critics who voiced their discontent over the spawn rate of Destiny 2’s Ascendant Primeval Servitor:
“During week three of the curse cycle, also known as full-curse week, the Ascendant Primeval Servitor will have almost the same chance to spawn as any other Primeval. We will also be increasing the chance for the boss to spawn during lesser-curse weeks, but it will still be lower than during a full-curse week.”
The spawn chance increase will be a welcome change for sure, but Bungie also revealed one notable drawback:
“For full transparency, since the Ascendant Primeval Servitor spawn rate will increase significantly when these changes are released, we are tweaking how ship and Sparrow rewards drop from the boss. Vanity items are no longer guaranteed drops for subsequent boss kills after you earn the quest. Instead, the vanity items will now only have a chance to drop.”
It’s a bit of a bummer, but if it means more chances at Malfeasance, so be it. The Destiny 2 Malfeasance quest change will go live on October 30.
