Activision has officially announced the first Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Alpha event, and with very little notice! The first Alpha, which will be available to all PS4 players regardless of whether they’ve pre-ordered the game, is due to start tomorrow on the 18th of September. The event will then be live for three days, until the end of this weekend.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Alpha
Fans should already be aware of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Open Beta which has already been announced. That event is due to start in a few weeks, with early access for all gamers who pre-order the upcoming title. This short-notice Alpha event, however, is open to all regardless of whether you’ve pre-ordered or not, although it will only be taking place on the PlayStation 4. Xbox and PC players will have to wait until the Open Beta.
The exclusive Black Ops Cold War Alpha is due to begin at 10:00 AM PDT tomorrow, on the 18th of September. It will be live until 10:00 AM PDT on the 20th, a few days later. Note that to play in the Alpha, you will need to download it. Fortunately, this 25 GB download is currently available to pre-load, so be sure to do so if you want to avoid a lengthy download and installation before you can start playing.
While the Alpha is free to access, there are some extra participation rewards available for certain players. If you have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Call of Duty: Warzone installed, you’ll be able to access the Black Ops Cold War Alpha through the main menu of those games. The Alpha also allows players to move directly into Warzone from its own main menu. Anybody who has either of these games downloaded who participates in the Alpha will receive a Calling Card. This item will also be available in Black Ops Cold War once the game launches.
