Season 2, the next big content season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone, is now live across both games as of today. Alongside the usual offerings of new modes, maps, and Battle Pass content, the new season also features Outbreak, the next chapter of the Dark Aether Zombies storyline.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2
Launched earlier today in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, Season 2 expands on the format established by the first season, with a wealth of new content already available on launch day. As with all new seasons, this includes the Season 2 Battle Pass, which has two new weapons and the first Operator tied to it. That Operator, Naga, is available to anybody who acquires the Battle Pass at Tier 0. The weapons, meanwhile, are the Fara 83 assault rifle and LC10 SMG, available at Tiers 15 and 31, respectively.
When it comes to the core multiplayer of Black Ops Cold War, Season 2 introduces a new map, and a new mode today, with more to come later in the season. While Apocalypse, the new 6v6 map, is brand new, the Gun Game mode is a returning classic of the series. Players can expect the Golova and Mansion maps later in Season 2, along with new game modes.
Perhaps the biggest piece of new content in Season 2 is Outbreak, the third chapter of the Dark Aether story. Following on from Die Maschine and Firebase Z, Outbreak is the largest Zombies map to date. In fact, it’s so large that it’s also the first to include vehicles, giving players a faster option to get around the expansive outdoor environment. The map features new enemies, a new Perk, and plenty more besides. Warzone, meanwhile, has gotten its own new expansion, with two new game modes; Exfiltration and Resurgence Extreme.
