The wait is almost over; after the final closing events of Season 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 is due to launch in just two days’ time. The new season promises another huge bundle of new content at launch, with plenty more to follow throughout the season.
Black Ops Cold War Season 3: What’s Coming
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 will officially launch on the 22nd of April. The update for the new season has already gone live across both Cold War and Warzone, but the actual new content won’t enable until Thursday. As to be expected, the new season offers a full new Battle Pass, new weapons and Operators, new game modes and maps, and more. As for Warzone – the battle royale title will be getting a major map update. However, the headline feature of the new season is a special event; the Hunt for Adler.
“Starting with the launch of Season Three,” explains Activision; “the new ‘Hunt for Adler’ limited-time event will task Operators with unique in-game challenges in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone […]” Once the season begins, details about this event will be available in the Seasonal Event tab. However, the gist of it is that players will be given challenges to complete, and doing so will unlock special Event rewards. These are mostly cosmetic items such as Weapon Charms and Calling Cards.
Season Three will include with what may be the biggest batch of new weapons yet. Available as part of the Battle Pass, as per usual, are two new firearms; the PPSh-41 SMG and the Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle. Later in the season, players will be able to unlock the classic Ballistic Knife, confirming a recent leak which had hinted at the weapon’s upcoming inclusion. The season will also introduce the Baseball Bat, AMP63 Pistol, and CARV.2 Tactical Rifle. This is the most actual firearms introduced in a Black Ops Cold War season thus far; previous seasons have included more melee weapons.
Alongside the new weapons, players can look forward to plenty more. There will be four new Operators, four new Multiplayer maps, and at least two new game modes. Zombies will be getting a new Outbreak region, as well as a new Field Upgrade, called Toxic Growth. Finally, Warzone is getting another big update to continue the story from Season 2; Containment Protocol.
