Earlier today, Infinity Ward released a major new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. While the patch itself was fairly run-of-the-mill, the most notable part was the addition of a new game mode and no less than two new maps. The new Modern Warfare Shoot House is one of those two; a military training facility in Urzikstan designed for fast-paced, close-quarters, 6v6 combat.
The New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Shoot House Map
“Visit the deserts of Urzikstan and enter a military training Shoot House facility,” explains Activision; “a tight, three-lane map packed with close-quarter combat potential. Medium-sized (perfect for 6v6 combat and a variety of game modes), expect tight corners that support a run-and-gun style of gameplay, along with a number of sight lines for medium-ranged engagements.”
Together with Krovnik Farmland, the other new map, Shoot House is the first map to come to Modern Warfare post-launch. Sharing some visual similarities with the game’s Gunfight maps, Shoot House is larger and better designed for team combat. While the tight corners do favour close-range or even close-combat weapons, there are spots where medium range weapons can shine. The centre of the map, which intersects all four of its sides, is likely to be where the fighting is fiercest. However, players ought not to focus too exclusively on gunning for enemy players on foot; as the trailer highlights, much of the Shoot House map is open-air. As such, players are vulnerable to aerial Killstreaks.
There is a raised overpass across the centre of the map, which offers players a vantage point to engage both aerial dangers and enemy players down below. Of course, on a map this small, a team is unlikely to be able to hold such a point indefinitely. As much as they can, players ought to stay mobile, utilising close-quarters weaponry primarily and mid-range weapons where appropriate.
