All fans of the Call of Duty franchise have been patiently waiting the the announcement of its beta. It was announced a few days ago that it will take place in August, however, the Blackout Beta will be instead coming in September, after its multiplayer mode has been tested in depth.
As Treyarch revealed, the Blackout beta, the testing phase of the upcoming battle royale, will be taking place in September on all platforms. What’s interesting though, for both Betas is that the Playstation 4 will take a head start, getting one whole week of testing before PC and Xbox One.
There’s still no stated date for the Blackout Beta, only that it will be coming in September. Hopefully, we’ll get more than just three days to test the mode out, since there will be many different items and locations that players will keep figuring things out in its first few days.
On that note, studio design director, David Vonderhaar revealed that there are many things to uncover in Blackout and that everyone that tried it have many different stories to share:
“Everyone who works on Blackout or plays is always eager to share a story they have. That game session might be a triumphant victory or a tragic loss — it might be how land, sea, and air vehicles collided in unexpected ways for a final showdown — or, it just might be a funny fail moment. No matter what, when people get done playing and want to tell the story of what happened to them afterwards, you know you have something special.”
It will be exciting to see how Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will manage to bring a new take on the battle royale genre. Such games manage to define whole archetypes and with the release of a similar mode in Battlefield V , we’ll have a big battle in October when both games get released.
