Treyarch and Sony have released another new video for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 after their previous multiplayer video. While the first video provided an overview for multiplayer, the new video is all about the Blackout battle royale mode.
Black Ops 4 Blackout Overview Video
Similar to the multiplayer video, the new Blackout overview video features direct commentary from Treyarch itself. This time around, Treyarch Design Director David Vonderhaar discusses what makes Blackout unique while also covering basic tips and strategies. Some of the advice Vonderhaar offers should be no-brainer stuff for experienced battle royale players. However, there’s likely a lot of Call of Duty players for whom Blackout will be their first proper battle royale experience. It’s also pretty obvious that Blackout operates in a vastly different manner than standard Call of Duty multiplayer.
Here’s the advice Vonderhaar offers for Black Ops 4 players looking to excel in Blackout:
- Remember that you start each new game with nothing equipped. Every tool you need, be it weaponry, equipment, or healing items, must be scavenged from locations on the map.
- Larger landmarks are obvious hotspots for players who want to get right into the thick of things. However, dropping into more remote areas can be a good strategy also since you’ll be able to loot in peace.
- If you want to find more unique tools like the grappling hook, you’ll have to look in unconventional locations.
- There are designated spots where vehicles can spawn. If you want the vehicles for yourself you’ll need to know where to go and be quick on your feet.
Vonderhaar also noted the high levels of player creativity that he and his team have already witnessed in Blackout. For example, if your team can secure a cargo truck, you can hijack supply drops as they’re falling. One can only imagine the sorts of creative strategies players will come up with after Blackout’s full launch.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will launch tomorrow, October 12, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more on the game, be sure to read about how Treyarch is ensuring a fair Zombies easter egg race.
