Treyarch is working hard to get fans pumped for the imminent launch of Call of Duty Black Ops 4. Along with the full map list and PC pre-load date, a notable tweak for Blackout has also surfaced. The time it takes to revive downed Blackout teammates is being upped from three seconds to five.
Black Ops 4 Blackout Respawn Timer Adjustments
The increased Blackout revive time was confirmed by a Treyarch team member in this Reddit thread. According to Treyarch, Blackout revive time and crawl speed are both being upped from their beta values:
“Blackout was 3 seconds revive in beta and we’ve increased it to 5 seconds for launch. We’ve also slightly increased downed crawl speed. With a faster crawl which allows you to reach cover quicker, we felt a slightly longer revive time was needed. An increased revive time also encourages the use of the Medic perk, which reduces revive time by 50% among other things.”
The Reddit comment was in response to fans who were debating what the finalized revive timer would be. In most other battle royale games, revives take 10 seconds on average. Therefore, fans were quick to assume such would be the case with Blackout, leading to Treyarch’s clarification.
Blackout will be one of Black Ops 4’s three gameplay pillars when the game launches on October 12. Players will also be able to partake in standard multiplayer and Zombies. Many elements from the three pillars also bleed into each other, ensuring a high level of replay value. Blackout also pays homage to the Black Ops legacy with its playable character roster and map landmarks.
When it arrives in a few days, Black Ops 4 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The Blackout battle royale mode will be Treyarch’s unique spin on the existing genre. After launch, Treyarch will keep adjusting Blackout based on user feedback.
