Call of Duty Black Ops 4 contains a staggering four separate Zombies maps at launch. One of those maps, ominously titled ‘Classified,’ is only available to those who purchase Black Ops 4’s Black Ops Pass. Treyarch has now released a teaser trailer for Classified, providing a brief glimpse into the map’s unique story premise.
Black Ops 4 Classified Trailer
The below teaser trailer won’t mean much to most players, but there’s plenty to dissect for established Zombies fans. Classified stars the iconic ‘Aether Storyline’ crew of Dempsey, Richtofen, Nikolai, and Takeo, but not quite as players remember them. These are the alternate timeline versions of the Aether crew, the ones who were last seen in Black Ops 3. Players had to find and kill these alternates as part of Black Ops 3’s Zombies experience. However, those same alternates are clearly alive and well in whatever timeline Classified belongs to.
The Black Ops 4 Zombies map Blood of the Dead also stars the Aether crew. In Blood of the Death, though, it’s the same crew who put down their alternates in Black Ops 3. Knowing Treyarch, Blood of the Dead and Classified are no doubt connected in some way. Black Ops 4’s other two Zombies maps, IX and Voyage of Despair, star an entirely new zombie-slaying crew. It’s plausible that all four maps share some sort of connection, but players will have to discover that connection themselves.
Along with Classified, the Black Ops Pass also grants access to a number of additional perks. Black Ops 3’s enigmatic Shadow Man is present as a Black Ops Pass-exclusive Blackout character. Three more pass-exclusive Blackout characters are also included, along with 12 additional multiplayer maps and four additional Zombies maps. The additional characters and maps will be implemented over time as post-launch content.
