Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Made $500 Million During Its Launch Weekend

Activision and Treyarch have disclosed some impressive sales stats for Call of Duty Black Ops 4. According to a press release, the game generated $500 million in sales from its launch weekend alone.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 cleared $500 million over its launch weekend.

Black Ops 4 $500 Million Launch Weekend Sales

Specifically, Black Ops 4 cleared the $500 million milestone within the first three days of its public availability:

“Activision’s Call of Duty Black Ops 4 has sold more than $500 million in sell-through worldwide in its first three days of release as the total number of players climbed from last year. Through its first three days of release, Black Ops 4 set a new Call of Duty franchise record for most combined players, average hours per player and total number of hours played, on current generation consoles. The combined number of Black Ops 4 players across its three modes of play during those first three days tops both last year’s Call of Duty WWII, as well as Call of Duty Black Ops 3 (single player, multiplayer and zombies), respectively, for the same period of time.”

The press release also noted how Black Ops 4 is the most watched Call of Duty game in franchise history. The viewership stats were pulled from the Twitch streaming service, again correlating to its launch weekend period.

Given how widely popular the Call of Duty franchise is, Black Ops 4’s impressive launch weekend stats are hardly surprising. However, they still at least prove that Call of Duty can still command quite a crowd. This is especially true for Treyarch’s Black Ops franchise, the franchise which helped build up the now iconic Zombies experience. Black Ops 4 may not have a traditional story campaign, but that has done little to stymie the game’s massive popularity.
