Whilst the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta continues, Treyarch is also busy making announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Once the Beta ends, it seems that Call of Duty fans will have plenty of new content to keep them busy until the launch of Modern Warfare. This is because Treyarch have now confirmed that Operation Dark Divide, their next major content release for Black Ops 4, will be releasing on the 23rd of September. Themed around superheroes, the release also includes Tag der Toten, the final entry in the Black Ops 4 Zombies storyline.
What’s Included with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Operation Dark Divide
Operative Dark Divide is Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s sixth Operation. Indeed, it is perhaps the most over-the-top since the game’s release. Described by Treyarch as their; “upcoming superheroes vs. villains-themed season packed with all-new game content and customisation gear,” the new content pack will contain two new maps and Tag der Toten; the conclusion to the Aether Zombies story. Most of this new content is still under wraps and won’t be revealed until Dark Divide launches on Monday.
However, based on promotional images shared on social media by Treyarch, it looks as though players can expect a wealth of superhero-themed cosmetics. Although the studio hasn’t confirmed whether Dark Divide will be the final Black Ops 4 Operation, that is a possibility. After all, the release of this operation comfortably spans the time between the Modern Warfare Beta and its launch. At that point, Activision may wish to focus on the new release. Similarly, Treyarch may then take the opportunity to focus on the development of their next game.
What is known for sure is that Tag der Toten will be the final entry in the Aether Zombies storyline; another indication that Dark Divide may be the last of its kind. (Or at the very least, that any subsequent Operation is likely to be a smaller release.) Dark Divide, like many other Operations, will also be changing the Blackout maps; “Players can expect new daytime lighting and brightness levels on the main map,” explains Treyarch; “and the return of the original afternoon environment in Alcatraz.”
