Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Promotes Teamwork To Fight Community Toxicity

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is one of the best FPS titles to be released this year. With the franchise carrying years of experience on its back and the developer studio, Treyarch focusing on creating the best social experience, it’s only natural for the game to bear values that were often underestimated in past Call of Duty titles.

Treyarch co-studio head Dan Bunting has spoken to PC Gamer and revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a social experienced, featuring the bare minimum that the Black Ops franchise is so famous about.

Regarding its multiplayer mode, Bunting pointed out once more the importance of teamwork in the upcoming title. The release of specialists, along with the changes brought to provide longer, more tactical fights will require something more than pure gunfight skills. Teamwork. And as he revealed, there’s a good reason for that:

“You’re looking to your teammates a lot more, because they can reveal enemy positions. So you’re no longer just looking at the minimap for what’s relevant to you, but what your teammates are doing as well. This builds teamwork without forcing it on people, which was another one of our goals. We wanted to combat toxicity in the community by designing systems that make teamwork stronger. Whatever you do to help yourself will ultimately make your team better, and that should make for a more pleasant online experience.”

The one thing that mostly brings players together though is the specialization. In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 you’ll need that medic and the enforcer to keep you alive while you “delete” the enemy team.

Black Ops 4 Specialists

Here’s what Bunting stated about the Specialists:

“We want to celebrate the fact there are roles that people play. In past games it’s been a passive thing. You got the camper, the slayer, the OBJ [objective] player. But people love to play support if they don’t have the best gun skill. And as designers we want to validate and support all different playstyles.”

Will Treyarch’s plan of bringing fans together in order to fight toxicity in the community work as intended? We’ll know as soon as the game releases in October.
