Did you think that the Call of Duty sales on consoles won’t be a match for Red Dead Redemption 2? After the impression that RDR will be able to outshine all releases, Black Ops 4 “gets out alive”, According to Sony, the Black Ops 4 sales were higher than Rockstar’s new RPG in October.
Even if the title and description of this story seem like an exaggeration, there’s explanation. Yes, Red Dead Redemption 2 shook things up with its huge release, however, fans are still committed to CoD. Additionally, Black Ops 4 had a few days to stay above RDR on the charts, so the case gets even more logical.

In reality, Red Dead Redemption 2 actually beat out the Black Ops 4 sales which come at $500 million revenue in retail sell-through during its first five days. Its sales weigh in at over $725 million. But Black Ops 4 released much earlier, so that’s reasonable. RDR still has a couple of weeks of huge sales, which stretch out to Black Friday as well.
The Black Ops 4 sales are pretty interesting in terms of previous titles as well. Treyarch’s new game outsold WW2 and managed to stand tall, even without a single player campaign. Undeniably, its sales prove that all the work done paid off.
As for Red Dead Redemption 2, the game holds the record for the most day-one sales on PSN. Additionally, it was the most pre-ordered game ever on PSN, as sources report. It might not have outsold Black Ops 4 in October but November is a strong month for the title.
It now falls to Battlefield V to beat Red Dead Redemption 2. Will DICE’s game manage to shine through this difficult month? Don’t forget that Black Friday comes in two weeks, meaning that all sales could become even more unclear. Whatever the outcome, Black Ops 4 is still a victor and it continues strong.
