Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Splitscreen: What Modes Allow for Black Ops 4 Local Multiplayer?

Like previous titles in the series, there is Call of Duty Black Ops 4 local multiplayer splitscreen available. This is somewhat surprising given the lack of local multiplayer in modern games but it’s welcome. However, what’s surprising is that the majority of the entire game can be done in splitscreen. What’s even crazier is a good portion can even be done offline.

That’s right, it is possible to play Call of Duty Black Ops 4 local multiplayer splitscreen without PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live. This is especially surprising, given that there is no campaign in the game. Let’s go over what modes are available in splitscreen and how to access them.

What Modes Allow for Black Ops 4 Local Multiplayer?

Interestingly enough, almost every mode can be splitscreen in the game. This includes Zombies, traditional multiplayer, and yes, even Blackout. Note that for online multiplayer, at least one user must have PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold active. As for how you access the local multiplayer, it’s pretty simple.

Simply head to the lobby of the mode you are wanting to do. If that’s Zombies, head to it and so on. Before you jump into a match, look at the top right corner where your Calling Card is located. Below it, you’ll see an empty slot for a teammate, be it an online friend or local friend. Select that to hook up a second controller and friend.

It works exactly the same way in Blackout, which is fascinating given that it is an online-only Battle Royale mode. Fortnite doesn’t even allow that. Though Blackout is online-only, there are a couple of things you can do offline. You can actually play Call of Duty Black Ops 4 local multiplayer splitscreen offline on both Zombies and traditional multiplayer with bots. This is great for those who don’t have a viable internet connection.
