Call of Duty Black Ops 4: Summit and Firing Range Map Previews

With Call of Duty Black Ops 4 arriving in about a week, Treyarch has released two new multiplayer map previews. Both of the previews focus on remade versions of classic Black Ops maps, namely Summit and Firing Range.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will have four classic multiplayer maps.

First up, there’s Summit, a snow-covered map which first appeared in the original Call of Duty Black Ops. Located in the Ural Mountains, Summit ties directly into the Cold War portion of the Black Ops storyline. The below preview clip was provided via Treyarch’s official Twitter account:

The official synopsis for Summit is as follows:

“Black Ops Flashback: Cold War surveillance is at its peak above the clouds in this mountaintop listening post in the Ural Mountains.”

As for the Firing Range map, it too first appeared in the original Call of Duty Black Ops. In contrast to Summit’s frigid exterior, Firing Range is bright, sunny, and populated with palm trees. Here’s the Twitter preview for the Firing Range map, again courtesy of Treyarch:

And the official synopsis:

“Black Ops Flashback: U.S. forces gear up for red team/blue team exercises in this Guantanamo Bay military base.”

Back in June of this year, Treyarch confirmed that Black Ops 4 would have a total of four remade maps. Summit and Firing Range are two of those maps, and they’ll join the current total of 12 maps that have been confirmed for Black Ops 4. Earlier this week, Treyarch also revealed one of the game’s new original maps, an urban Moroccan village aptly named Morocco.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 arrives on October 12 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Along with its standard multiplayer experience, the game will also include a co-op Zombies mode and a brand new Blackout battle royale component. Treyarch plans to double Black Ops 4’s map count after launch, bringing the total number from 12 to 24. If you want first crack at the new post-launch maps, you’ll have to invest in the game’s season pass.
