Call of Duty fans may be looking forward to the release of Modern Warfare at the end of October, it seems that there will be another Call of Duty release coming between now and then. Specifically, Treyarch has confirmed that the fourth Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies DLC is due to release sometime later in September. At present, very little is known about this DLC, but the studio have said that more details are coming very soon…
The Next Upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies DLC
The most recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies DLC release came two months ago, when Treyarch launched Operation Apocalypse Z. This major DLC pack brought new maps, new cosmetics, and new game modes, as well as a big new continuation of the ongoing Aether Zombies storyline. In the studio’s most recent Reddit update, they included the confirmation that; “Zombies DLC 4 Arrives in September.”
“Keep an eye on our social channels this week,” they write; “for the first new story details on our final Zombies experience in Black Ops 4. There will be plenty to unpack, all in due time. Until then… ‘My friends, old and new, we stand on the brink of victory.'”
Interestingly, Treyarch notes that this DLC will be the “final” Black Ops 4 Zombies DLC. Launching as it is ahead of Modern Warfare, it suggests that Treyarch may plan to focus on developing their next game once Modern Warfare is available. Certainly, Black Ops 4 is likely to see a downturn in engagement in November as fans shift over to the newer title. While the game is likely to maintain a sizable player-base for some time, the need to release more content will definitely become a much lower priority for Treyarch. In place of DLC development, the studio will presumably focus on developing their 2020 title, which has been rumoured to be a Black Ops reboot.
