Following days of build-up from Activision, Season 5 is now available to play across both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone. The new season features the usual selection of new weapons, maps, and Zombies content, along with a major new multiplayer mode.
What’s New in Call of Duty Season 5
The headline feature of Call of Duty Season 5 seems to be the Double Agent game mode. This is the only new mode available at launch (more will be coming later in the season), and offers a substantially different experience to any existing game modes. In this mode, communication is paramount, as a small group of players attempt to uncover the double agents hiding in their midst. (Before the agents eliminate them all or detonate explosives around the map.)
Three new Multiplayer maps are available from the launch of Season 5. The first two, Echelon and Slums, are both new 6v6 maps. The third, Showroom, is designed for both 2v2 and 3v3 modes. Two classic maps from Call of Duty: Black Ops will be coming later in the season; Drive-In, and Zoo. Equipment-wise, Season 5 offers three new weapons at launch. Both the EM2 Assault Rifle and TEC-9 SMG are available as part of the Season 5 Battle Pass. A third weapon, the new Flamethrower Scorestreak, is also now available to use. The Cane and Marshal handgun will be coming later in the season.
Zombies, meanwhile, has gotten a host of content updates focusing on Outbreak. The mode has received a brand-new region, Collateral, along with the Grapple Gun and a fully-armoured Tank! Across the Zombies modes, players can also now make use of the new Tesla Storm Field Upgrade and Death Perception Perk.
Finally, Call of Duty: Warzone has received a few changes and additions with the launch of Season 5. Two new perks – the first ever to be added to the game – are now available; Combat Scout and Tempered. Additionally, new Mobile Broadcast Stations can now be found around Verdansk, and the Gulag has received a new layout.
