Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is Now Playable for Free

Right now, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is free to play across all platforms. This special, limited-time free trial is the longest which Activision has ever run for the game, providing free access for an entire week. Players can jump into Multiplayer and even the latest Zombies map, Mauer der Toten!

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Free Trial

In the first few months after the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Activision ran several Free Trial events for the game, offering portions of its content for free over a weekend or a few days. Now, starting from today, the game is playable for a full week; the longest Free Access period ever for Black Ops Cold War. This period is due to end on the 29th of July.

Of course, Free Access players can’t get complete access to all of the game’s content. However, a surprising amount is nonetheless accessible. In Multiplayer, a range of different playlists and game modes are available to try, including Rush; the new 6v6 map which arrived in-game with the launch of Season 4 Reloaded.

The headline feature of the Free Trial week, however, is Mauer der Toten. The third round-based map for Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode only came to the game a couple of weeks ago; the first to launch since Season 1! This entire map is available to play for free as part of this special event. This isn’t the first time that Activision have used Zombies as an incentive for people to try out the game. Back in February, the company held a Call of Duty Free Trial event shortly after the launch of Firebase Z, wherein the Zombies map was also temporarily free to play.

This week is a particularly good opportunity for existing Warzone players to try out Black Ops Cold War. This is because all of a player’s Warzone progress will carry over to Black Ops Cold War during the event. Furthermore, any progress earned in the game will carry back over seamlessly to Warzone once the Call of Duty Free Trial ends, even if players choose not to subsequently purchase the full game.
