Call of Duty: Mobile has only been available for around one month, but it has certainly already attracted plenty of attention. In fact, the new game is already up for an award; the Google Play User’s Choice Award 2019. This annual award, which is voted on by members of the public, is specifically for mobile game apps on the Google Play Store.
Call of Duty: Mobile and Other User’s Choice Award Nominees
Public voting is still open for the Google Play User’s Choice Award, and will remain so for another 12 days. You can cast your vote for one of the ten nominees here, on the Google Play website. Call of Duty: Mobile is up against nine of Google Play’s most popular mobile games, including RAID: Shadow Legends, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, and Mario Kart Tour. Given the game’s popularity, and strong social media presence, it seems a likely contender to win the award, although fans will have to wait and see.
Alongside their game category, Google Play also has User’s Choice Awards for the Movie, App, and Book categories. Movie and Book are new additions to the contest, which last year held only separate App and Game categories. (The competition itself only began in 2018.) Last year, the winner of the User’s Choice Award for Best Game was PUBG Mobile.
Whether or not Call of Duty: Mobile wins the award, Activision certainly plans to keep delivering new content to its players. There’s no doubt that the game is intended to be a source of revenue, as mobile games often are, and also cater to fans of Battle Royale; after all, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare eschewed a battle royale mode of its own. (At least for now.) With Modern Warfare shying away from intensive monetisation for the time being, Call of Duty: Mobile has a very different approach. The game features two different in-game currencies, a Battle Pass, and Premium supply drops.
