While the launch date of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare draws nearer, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 just got its sixth season of post-launch content, Activision has now launched Call of Duty: Mobile, a new battle royale game and the first Call of Duty game for mobile devices. A launch trailer for the game has now been released on YouTube, showcasing its core features, including character customisation, multiplayer gameplay, and battle royale.
The Call of Duty: Mobile Launch Trailer
Developed by Tencent’s TiMi studio, Call of Duty: Mobile is an all-new, free-to-play mobile title. The game draws inspiration from both the Modern Warfare and Black Ops universes. In fact, it features characters and “classic” maps from both! Featuring battle royale and smaller-scale multiplayer, the new game also includes a wide variety of maps.
“Our aim from the beginning has been to set a new standard for mobile multiplayer action games by combining Call of Duty’s signature gameplay, content and presentation quality with best-in-class development and live service expertise,” says Chris Plummer, VP of Mobile at Activision; “Our collaboration with TiMi Studios has delivered a remarkable experience that introduces fresh new ways to engage for fans of the genre and familiar hallmarks for Call of Duty fans old and new.”
The game features different control sets for ‘simple’ and ‘advanced,’ which are covered in the opening tutorial. This tutorial also explains how to use Scorestreaks. After that, you’ll play a game of Frontline on the classic Nuketown map. With that first game out of the way, all the other modes of the game will open up. At that point, you can access Battle Royale and all of the other ways to play. The game features two in-game currencies, Credits and CoD Points, and plenty of customisation options. (As shown briefly in the trailer.) There is also a Battle Pass which features Credit rewards, unique items, and Weapon XP cards which will help you to level up weapons faster.
