Earlier today, Activision announced the launch of Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2, the game’s first major update since its release. The new season sees the addition of a Zombies mode, which you can read more about here, as well a new map. Plus, the game now features controller support for both PS4 and Xbox One controllers.
What’s New in Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2
Of course, the addition of a Zombies mode is the biggest selling point for Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2. However, fans have been asking for controller support since release, so its inclusion may well bring more players into the game for the second season. More specifically, the game now offers support for both DUALSHOCK4 PS4 controllers and official Xbox One controllers. (With the exception of first-generation PS4 controllers.) Controller support only applies during matches, however. Players will still have to navigate menus with mobile controls.
When it comes to matchmaking, Activision are applying a similar standard to how cross-play is handled in Modern Warfare; players who use controllers will only match with other players using controllers. This applies even if you’re in a party with other players who aren’t using controllers; as long as a single person in the party is using a controller, the party will match with controller users only. More details about setting up controllers can be found in the game’s Help Section.
In addition to controller support, Activision are adding in a new season ranking system, and even a new map; Summit. There will also be a winter version of the Raid map coming later in the season. The game’s battle royale Isolated map is also getting a winter update which includes new events and a new weapon, the M16. The full patch notes of the Season 2 update, which include plenty of tweaks and bug-fixes, can be found here.
