Infinity Ward continues to release a steady stream of hotfixes and patches for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and while the worst of any bugs may have been dealt with, there still remain balancing concerns and other issues. In the latest Modern Warfare patch, the studio sets its sights on weapon balancing for the AUG 5.56, 725 shotgun, and Model 680, while also addressing bugs with the Ground War mode.
The Latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Patch Notes
First up in the new patch, Infinity Ward fixes a few specific problems. For instance, an exploit which allowed players to duplicate killstreaks has now been removed. Two bugs in the Ground War mode have also been addressed; one which could cause the respawn selection screen’s filter to stay active after a player respawned, and another which would cause the Select Loadout screen to reappear multiple times after a loadout had already been selected.
When it comes to balancing, the patch focuses on three specific weapons. The first of these, the AUG 5.56 Caliber conversion, has gotten a small buff. Its close range and mid range damages have both been improved. Meanwhile, its chest multiplier has been reduced. The 725 shotgun, on the other hand, has been nerfed. The weapon’s base damage has gone down slightly, and the damage range from attachments has been “significantly reduced”. Additionally, the shotgun’s hip-shooting damage has gone down, although its hip spread has been increased slightly. Finally, the Model 680 has also had a slight nerf, but only in one area; the damage range for range-extending attachments.
Aside from these alterations, the patch largely makes small tweaks and fixes here and there. The full patch notes have been released on Reddit, and detail the other changes, which include a list of challenges. These run the gamut in size, ranging from a tweak as minor as fixing a misspelling of the word “trophy” which appeared somewhere in the game.
