After postponing the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4 last week in solidarity with the ongoing protests, Activision and Infinity Ward have now announced at short notice that the season will instead go live tonight. A Season 4 update will be rolling out across all platforms before the end of the day.
The Launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4
Like previous seasons, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4 will launch with a new Battle Pass and a range of new content. Post-launch, new maps, modes and additional content will also be rolling out in the coming weeks. Season 4 officially launches tonight at 11:00 PM PDT. Among the new additions to the game are two totally new features which players may find interesting; Weapon Mastery Challenges and Warzone In-Match Events.
The first of these, Weapon Mastery Challenges, become available once players unlock Gold for a weapon. Each weapon has eight Challenges available, with each featuring rewards; either a Playercard or Emblem. Each set of eight includes 2 Kill Challenges, 2 Headshot Challenges, and 4 further Challenges which players must complete in order. These are ranked Gold, Platinum, Damascus, and Obsidian.
The other new addition are In-Match Events for Call of Duty: Warzone, which could have a major impact on the battle royale game. These events can happen during any match, although only one will occur in any given match. At the start of Season 4, three different Event types will be available; Fire Sale, Jailbreak, and Supply Chopper. Fire Sale, for example, offers players a 60-second discount on most items. Jailbreak will immediately release all players in the Gulag, while Supply Choppers sends an armoured helicopter into Verdansk which can be shot down to acquire loot. These new additions and more will be available once Modern Warfare Season 4 launches later tonight. The Season should officially launch at 11:00 PM PDT.
