New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Trials Enabled… Then Turned Off

In the wake of the recent release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward has been tweaking and polishing the game’s multiplayer, addressing bugs and balancing issues raised by the audience. Yesterday, the studio enabled a new feature for multiplayer; the Modern Warfare Trials. However, less than 24 hours later, Infinity Ward has had to turn them off in order to fix problems with their XP rewards.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Trials

Yesterday, Infinity Ward announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Trials had gone live in-game. These Trials gave players who had reached Officer Ranks a new activity. Once players reach Officer Rank, they can start earning tickets which can be used to enter Trials. You need one ticket to enter, which grants you 3 attempts at a Trial. Then, depending on how well you do in the Trial, you’ll get up to 3 stars. For each star you earn, you’ll get an XP reward; 3 stars awards 10,000 XP, 2 stars grants 7,500 XP, 1 star is worth 5,000 XP, and no stars means you get nothing.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Trials Enabled Switched Off 2

However, the Modern Warfare Trials had been active for less than 24 hours when Infinity Ward posted an update on social media. “We’ve turned off Trials while we investigate XP rewards not being awarded after completion,” they explain; “We’ll provide an update when we’re ready to turn them back on. Thank you for your patience”. As of the time of writing, Trials are still offline, and that update has yet to emerge. It’s currently unknown when they will be available again.

Fortunately, players shouldn’t need to worry about missing out on tickets as they rank up. When Trials were first enabled, Infinity Ward noted; “Already in Officer Ranks? You’ll get access to tickets you already earned”. As such, players should retroactively get any tickets which they would have gotten as and when the Trials are available again.
