Last year, CD Projekt Red stole the show at E3 when they released a Cyberpunk 2077 story trailer; the first trailer released for the upcoming game for five years. Hype for the game quickly exploded, leading to a 40-minute gameplay demo being released publicly a few months later. Since then, CD Projekt Red have only revealed the odd snippet of information and have been particularly vague about any possible release date. However, following the confirmation that they will be appearing at E3 2019, the studio’s CEO has now said that the event is going to be CD Projekt Red’s “most important one ever.”
CD Projekt Red’s Plans for Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2019
Cyberpunk 2077 was widely considered to be the most highly-anticipated game at the end of 2018, and fans are still waiting desperately for any news of a release date. Analysts estimate that the game could release somewhere in Q4 of the 2019 financial year, putting its release somewhere in late 2019 or early 2020. However, we have no formal date to prove as much, and the speculation is that CD Projekt Red will finally reveal that date at E3 2019. The studio recently confirmed that they would be in attendance, which comes as no surprise given their big appearance last year.
However, we now have some more information courtesy of CD Projekt Capital Group’s latest financial briefing. During the livestream, Adam Kiciński, the studio’s CEO, spoke about their upcoming E3 plans; “Last year’s E3 has been the most important one so far throughout the whole CD Projekt history,” he explained; “This year’s [E3] is going to be the most important one ever for us. We have really prepared a strong show.”
While some studios have sought to move away from E3 in recent years, Kiciński still seems to value it, stating that it is; “the best moment for big announcements of big launches during the year”. Kiciński also said that the E3 presentation will feature some “surprises,” although he didn’t detail what these might be. Certainly, it sounds like fans will have a lot to look forward to!
