A new job listing posted by CD Projekt Red has prompted speculation that the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 could be drawing nearer; the studio recently published details for a “Release Manager,” position. While the post doesn’t directly mention the upcoming RPG, it certainly seems likely that this individual will be handling the Cyberpunk 2077 release.
Cyberpunk 2077 Release Manager Hiring Hints at Impending Launch
CD Projekt Red is infamously tight-lipped about their release details, especially concerning Cyberpunk 2077. Estimates from analysts generally put the game’s release in late 2019 or possibly early 2020, however, and there is growing evidence indicating that this estimate will prove correct. Indeed, this new Release Manager post seems likely to have direct responsibility over things like the Cyberpunk 2077 release.

Of course, Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t the only game coming from CD Projekt Red in the next couple of years. The studio is reportedly planning to release another triple-A RPG by 2021. However, there is no other public information available about that game at present. With Cyberpunk 2077 due for release soon, CD Projekt Red is understandably keeping its future plans under wraps. Indeed, fans are unlikely to hear anything about the upcoming game until after Cyberpunk’s release. (Although it’s possible that the studio could give a teaser at E3). It’s unknown whether the Release Manager listing is for a brand-new role, or to fill a vacant position left by somebody’s departure.
Whatever the case, the timing is notable; we are only a few months away from E3 2019, after all. CD Projekt Red have said that this year’s appearance will be their biggest ever. Certainly, it seems very likely that the studio will finally announce the Cyberpunk 2077 release date at the event; thus beginning the countdown towards launch. In the subsequent months, the studio will need to coordinate with manufacturers, publishers, companies like Microsoft and Sony as they get the game certified and ready for release. No doubt the new Release Manager will be rather busy!
