In their first major event appearance since E3, CD Projekt Red has released a new set of Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots. Although fans haven’t gotten to see the E3 gameplay demo yet, the screenshots do give a further look at what players can expect to see in-game. Plus, a short gameplay video was released in partnership with NVIDIA. The company also released a couple of Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots captured with ray tracing enabled.
New Cyberpunk 2077 Screenshots From Gamescom
The new Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots run the gamut from scenic images to mid-combat gameplay screenshots. They also give fans a chance to see plenty of Night City’s different areas. Plus, fans get to see a few glimpses of story moments from the game. For instance, one screenshot shows the player speaking to Placide, with Johnny Silverhand standing in the background. Placide also features in another screenshot, as a building explodes behind him. Certainly, his appearance in these and other recent screenshots suggest that he will be a major character in the story.
The third set of screenshots appear to show a battle between the player and enemies in a gym, with most of the enemies featuring huge – and likely cybernetically enhanced – muscles. Indeed, one hulking character with a shotgun appears to be a key character in the scene, though it’s unknown what his role might be. Some of the screenshots also show reference to ‘Netwatch Agents’; possibly the first time that CD Projekt Red has referred to Netwatch directly.
Netwatch is an organisation from the original tabletop roleplaying game which serves the role of law enforcement on the Net. In the Cyberpunk 2020 setting, Netwatch has a wide variety of branches with different reputations. Interestingly, Netwatch is something of a third party between criminals and corporations, as both groups see them as an interference. Because many corporations employ their own Net security, Netwatch clashes as often with them as with the gangs.
