If you’ve ever wondered what Geralt of Rivia might look like if the Witcher was transplanted from his Slavic-themed setting to one inspired by feudal Japan, imagine no longer; the new Geralt Ronin statue, available from the CD Projekt Red Store, is just that. Complete with silver and steel katanas, the statue is the focus of a new unboxing video from CD Projekt Red.
CD Projekt Red’s New Geralt Ronin Figure
The new Geralt Ronin figure is one of the most impressive things currently available from the CD Projekt Red Store. (Not to mention one of the most impressive renditions of the Butcher of Blaviken ever created!) Rather than portray him as he appears in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, for example, CD Projekt Red has chosen to give him a totally different style. “Though Slavic by birth, Geralt is an archetypal hero who appears in many cultures,” explains the product description; “A monster hunter for hire and wandering swordsmaster in search of a greater purpose. Inspired by medieval Japan, this hand-painted 12 inch polystone figure depicts Geralt of Rivia as a Ronin monster hunter.”
The Store page delves further into this take on a new setting, explaining that it is set in “Koyasan Cemetery,” a real location which is actually the largest cemetery in Japan. “The scene depicts Geralt preparing to fight the local Oni – or demons,” continues CD Projekt Red; “Accompanied and guided by a friendly Tatarimokke spirit, the witcher will need to use every trick in his arsenal to prevail.”
As incredible as it would be to see CD Projekt Red develop this concept into an actual game, it is of course, and rather unfortunately, very unlikely. At least fans can relish what such a game might look like with this new figure! The polystone statue is currently available to pre-order, retailing for 219,00 €. An exact release/shipping date is not currently available. However, the company is planning for it to fall sometime during fiscal Q4 2019. As such, purchasers should expect it to be sometime in early 2020.
