Polish developer CD Projekt Red has taken to The Witcher series’ Twitter page to celebrate an auspicious occasion for the company; the third anniversary since the release of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. The game originally released in 2015, with its two DLC packs following in 2015 and 2016, respectively. A Game of the Year edition was also released in 2016.
CD Projekt Red posted a piece of artwork depicting much of The Witcher III’s main cast. It even includes characters from the game’s two DLC expansions, “Hearts of Stone” and “Blood and Wine”. Beneath, they stated, “Today marks the third anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt release! On this occasion we’ve managed to gather the gang for celebrations.”

They clarified that the picture was supposedly taken by “Count Beledal’s parestisomach”. Veteran fans may well remember the count and his helmet-mounted magic camera from The Witcher III’s Blood and Wine expansion. Geralt could accept a contract called “Big Game Hunter” to guide the affable count through the wilderness of Toussaint. During the course of the quest, Beledal used his parestisomach to capture images of the Toussaint wildlife, and later exhibited them in a nearby village. CD Projekt Red took the opportunity in their tweet to call on fans to celebrate the anniversary in similar fashion; by sharing their favorite screenshots from The Witcher III: Wild Hunt.
Anniversaries and Upcoming Announcements
The anniversary was, thanks to CD Projekt Red’s recent swift action, not marred by problems. A patch was released several weeks ago for the Witcher III: Wild Hunt, designed to provide HDR support for the PS4 Pro. Unfortunately, it was quickly found to also cause harsh drops in foliage and shadow render distances. It might well have looked bad for the company to celebrate the anniversary while the game’s graphics were still afflicted by this broken patch. CD Projekt Red, however, was able to hastily put out another patch addressing the issue just days before the anniversary date. Thankfully, the new patch seems to have fixed the bug.
With E3 fast approaching, the company is presumably hard at work readying Cyberpunk 2077. Fans have long awaited an official release date for the company’s new title. With any luck, the June event will finally see that information released to the public.
