As the end of the Grand Soirée Arcade Event approaches, players only have a limited time to try out the final game mode. Although it doesn’t feature AI bots, as some had hoped, the Apex Legends DUMMIEs Big Day mode does nonetheless offer players something very different. Instead of the standard roster of Legends, players must choose to play as one of several test ‘DUMMIEs,’ with their own ultimates and abilities.
The Apex Legends DUMMIEs Big Day Game Mode
The Apex Legends DUMMIEs Big Day mode is the final of seven different game modes which have featured during the Grand Soirée. Each of these were only available to play for two days each. However, DUMMIEs Big Day is available for one extra day. As such, the mode will be available until the end of the 28th of January. The Arcade Event itself will also be ending then; as such, players only have a little time to try out the last mode, complete event challenges, and get event cosmetics, etc.
In DUMMIEs Big Day, players must play as test DUMMIEs instead of the normal Legends. These DUMMIEs all have the same Passive, called Hustle, which doesn’t seem to have a gameplay effect. DUMMIEs also have a new tactical ability, Loot Spawner, which allows them to summon a selection of random items. These items can include weapons and attachments, health, or simply ammunition. Where the DUMMIEs differ is in their Ultimate abilities. Each has the ability Panic Button, but there are three alternate versions.
The first, “Emergency Dance Party,” creates duplicates of the player that move as they move, making it hard to tell which is the player. The second is the “Emergency Area Heal,” which will simply heal all players in the area. Finally, there is “Emergency Loot Piñata,” which will spawn various weapons, armour, and ammunition. References found in the mode indicate that the DUMMIEs could have some connection to the character Mirage. However, it remains to be seen whether this connection will lead to anything in the future.
