Netflix Releases Character Videos for the Upcoming Witcher Series
The upcoming Netflix Witcher series is now less than two weeks away from release, and as such, Netflix has released three new character introduction videos, showing off more of the series to get fans excited for what’s to come. Of course, the videos focus on the three most important characters in the series; Princess Cirilla, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and of course, Geralt of Rivia himself.
The Netflix Witcher Series Character Introduction Videos
The Netflix Witcher series, which is based on the original Witcher novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, is due to release on the 20th of December. The show, which stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, will be telling Geralt’s story from a much earlier point than CD Projekt Red’s games. (Which take place many years later.) As such, fans will get to see much of the main characters’ backstories, right from the beginning. Yennefer, for example, will begin the series before she uses magic to change her appearance, while she is still a hunchback.
Ciri, on the other hand, is far younger than she appears in the game series. The show will focus on her early years as a princess in the royal court of Cintra, before she ever meets Geralt of Rivia. It’s currently unknown how far through the story the first season of the Netflix series will progress. For example, the sorcerer Vilgefortz is on the cast list (played by Mahesh Jadu), but it seems unlikely that the series will reach his confrontation with Geralt and Yennefer at Stygga Castle in its first season.
More likely, Vilgefortz will be introduced later in the season, while the first season focuses more on earlier villains like Cahir. For now, fans will have to wait and see. The series will be premiering on Netflix on the 20th of December, in roughly ten days’ time.
