Ubisoft has announced that both, Child of Light and Valiant Hearts will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on Oct 11 and Nov 8, respectively. Both titles were developed using the UbiArt Framework, which was created back in 2011 for Rayman Origins.
Child of Light has you playing as a princess named Aurora who is on a quest to save her sickly father while also attempting to save the lost kingdom of Lemuria. The game is a 2d sidescroller with an active-time battle system that is wholly unique and quite difficult at times. You have a meter for every member in your party that shows when you are able to attack, and so do the enemies. If you hit an enemy before they attack, their meter goes back to the beginning which starts a tennis match of sorts in combat. If you strategize correctly and make the right moves, your enemies won’t be able to touch you at all. With its hand-drawn artwork, beautiful soundtrack, and engrossing combat system, Child of Light will be a fantastic addition to the Switch’s library of games.
Valiant Hearts
Valiant Hearts tells the story of war, specifically World War I, through the eyes of five different characters. Here’s a synopsis of the adventure game straight from Ubisoft themselves:
“A story of friendship, love, sacrifice, and tragedy based on World War 1, Valiant Hearts is a heartfelt adventure through history. On your journey, you’ll explore famous WW1 locations like Reims and Montfaucon, and crucial, war-impacting moments like the Battles of Marne and Somme as you work with your trusty and lovable dog to solve puzzles and sneak behind enemy lines. On Switch, Valiant Hearts is fully playable with touch controls, allowing you to interact with the characters and the world like never before. Additionally, Switch owners will have access to an interactive comic book, Valiant Hearts: Dogs of War. The comic tells the tale of Walt the dog and his sister Cassie in the early years of WW1 as they navigate dangerous trenches in order to deliver important messages and rescue fallen soldiers.”
Look forward to both of these titles as October and November come closer and closer.
