On the brands presenting panels at this weekend’s ComplexCon Chicago 2019 lineup will be NBA 2K. A number of panels labeled as “Complex Current” carry the NBA 2K20 label on them including one specifically devoted to NBA 2K and culture. That particular panel will have a four-man roster which includes Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns. Here are more details about the ComplexCon Chicago 2019 event and NBA 2K’s involvement.
Towns heads up NBA 2K panel on culture at ComplexCon Chicago 2019
Karl-Anthony Towns is the star of the Minnesota Timberwolves and a top 20 player in the recent NBA 2K20 player ratings. Over the course of the past season, he racked up numerous double-doubles and established himself as one of the league’s premier big men. Some people may even forget he’s a former No. 1 pick who is actually living up to the hype behind being selected first overall.
Last season, Towns averaged 24.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game with 51.8 percent shooting. Add in an impressive 40 percent from long range and he’s among the most versatile big men in the league. He also achieved NBA All-Star status for a second-straight season. That makes him a great representative for the NBA 2K discussion set for ComplexCon Chicago 2019.
Towns teams up with Steve Stoute, Don C, and Paul Rivera for the first of the Complex Current panels. Their panel is “How NBA2K is Cultivating What’s Next in Culture.” The panel will take a look at how 2K Sports’ basketball franchise is more than just a video game but “is leading the discussion on what’s next in culture.”
2K’s popular basketball game is well known for involving not just the NBA stars and teams in the video game. It also brings other aspects such as the newest sneakers, music, and gear to really incorporate popular culture into the 2K world.
