Even players that have never played Call of Duty before have right to enjoy a match or two in Blackout, don’t they? However, the experience might get a bit tricky. Especially for those who have played battle royale games like Fortnite or PlayerUnknown’s Playgrounds before. Here’s my experience as a rookie in my first matches in Blackout.
Finding Gear in Blackout
First thing I notice and I was pretty stunned by it is the fact that the mode is incredibly polished. Good, I said, I might score a kill or too. And so my first match started. Even the helicopter ride gets you startled when you’re a noob. What have I gotten myself into, I thought. And then, I wingsuited down and onto my first survival struggle. If only I knew what a struggle it really is.

Items on the floor, weapons I’ve never seen before, a little car and one thing I did knew, band aids. Let’s grab them all, we’ll need them. For the weapon choosing, I went on and switched everything and just stood there testing each one to see which is the loudest. After all, the gun that is the loudest does more damage right? Yeah, that’s rookie thinking right there.
I also saw some weird cases with names like Consumer, Iron Lung and such and I tested them all out. No luck, Call of Duty is way too tricky for me. I stacked a few just in case and went on. Just before leaving, I saw something familiar. A sand colored weapon. That must be a SCAR-L I reckoned, going back to my not-so-successful PUBG days. That weapon was powerful there, it must be here too. Sadly, it didn’t have the same name but who cares, it looks OP.
I picked it up, equipped it with a scope and started running to my squad members, the ones randomly matched with my rookie face. One was close nearby so I thought to myself, I’ll go find him and move onwards to the closing circle. There’s a good chance that he knows what he’s doing. He’ll protect me from enemy fire and I’ll cover him and assist him with my loved band aids.
The Great Downfall in Blackout
I run and run and finally see my squad member running towards me too. Right there, he looks me deep in the eyes and shoots me right in the face. As I lay there, wondering what type of madness this game is, he loots my dead now character and moves on to the victory. Is this Call of Duty? What did I do wrong?
I quickly logged off and stared at the screen for a good two minutes. Luckily, my next tries weren’t that much of a nightmare but this one was a cool story to share nonetheless. Hoping you guys have better luck in Blackout than me. Get a win for us all rookies out there and we’ll be seeing you in the top 10 as soon as we learn the game better!
