For a second-straight year, the Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid has topped all NHL 21 player ratings. In the upcoming game, he’ll hold a 95 overall rating, besting cover star Alex Ovechkin, and the great Sidney Crosby, among others. McDavid’s overall rating was revealed as part of the top 10 on Thursday for the NHL 21 centers. Here’s a look at who else made that list.
Connor McDavid leads NHL 21 player ratings for centers, all players
In EA’s NHL 20 video game, Connor McDavid topped all players with a 94 overall rating. In the NHL 21 player ratings, McDavid moves up a point to 95 overall and still leads everyone. Right behind him on the centers list is the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby, who was also No. 2 in last year’s game.
For the past season, McDavid had 34 goals and 63 assists for a total of 97 points in 64 games played. In just five seasons in the league, heβs now a three-time All-Star, two-time Pearson winner, two-time Ross winner, and a Hart Trophy winner.
Connor McDavid was on NHL 18 as the cover athlete. The 6-foot-1 Oilers star seems like heβs destined to be on the cover of EAβs NHL game sometime in the future too.
As mentioned, Sid the Kid is No. 2 at 93 OVR. Crosby is followed by Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon and the Oilers’ Leon Draisaitl. Each of them get 92 overall, followed by Patrice Bergeron who is a 91 OVR. Others in the top 10 centers include Tampa Bay Lightning star Steven Stamkos and last year’s cover star, Auston Matthews.
Alumni reveal also on the way
Now that all of the position players have been revealed for current rosters, EA teased the arrival of alumni players for the game. That includes former stars like the Philadelphia Flyers’ Erik Lindros and Vancouver Canucks’ Henrik Sedin. Lindros was revealed as a 90 overall as well as former Calgary Flames star Jarome Iginla.
The alumni players will appear on all-time classic teams in the NHL 21 game. So gamers will be able to see how players like Lindros or Sedin fare against top stars of today such as Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby.
The new NHL 21 game arrives on October 16 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Gamers who pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition or Great Eight Edition can start playing three days earlier. There’s also NHL 21 early access which started today via EA Play membership, giving gamers 10 hours to play the game ahead of release.
