After six months of being on the largest digital console store platform, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally been permitted to return to the PlayStation Store by Sony. However, the game’s return comes with warnings from both Sony and CD Projekt; that users may still experience performance issues.
Cyberpunk 2077 Returns to the PlayStation Store
“Cyberpunk 2077 is now back on the PlayStation Store,” writes CD Projekt Red, in an announcement post yesterday. The game is available to buy and download for both the PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 5. However, an accompanying message (echoing similar sentiments from Sony itself) warns thusly; “Users may continue to experience some performance issues with the PS4 edition while we continue to improve stability across all platforms. The PS4 Pro and PS5 versions of the game will provide the best experience on PlayStation.”

Cyberpunk 2077 has been unavailable on the PlayStation Store for a little over six months. The game was taken down from the store by Sony just days after its December release date, after the scale of performance issues and bugs became apparent. Indeed, Sony widely offered refunds to players who had purchased the game on their platform. Since then, CD Projekt has been releasing patches to try and fix the game’s many problems. (While waiting for Sony to give them the green light to return.)
As recently as last month, CD Projekt were still waiting on Sony to make a decision regarding the game’s return. Now, it seems, that decision has been made. While the game has been allowed back, it seems that Sony wants to make one thing very clear; this does not mean that the game’s problems are all fixed. While PS4 users may not be able to get the best experience with the game as of yet, they do have one perk to look forward to. A free next-gen upgrade will be made available to all owners of the PS4 version later this year.
