Cyberpunk 2077 Concept Art Depicts Pre-Keanu Johnny Silverhand

Have you ever wondered what Cyberpunk 2077’s Johnny Silverhand originally looked like before Keanu Reeves took the role? Some concept art has emerged that gives us an idea what pre-Keanu Johnny Silverhand looked like. Let’s check it out for ourselves.

Here is What Pre-Keanu Johnny Silverhand Looked Like

CD Projekt Red Senior Concept Artist and Coordinator Lea Leonowicz posted the concept art over at ArtStation. The versions we see in the concept images look a bit younger than Keanu Reeves’ version, but all told, the overall appearance of the character and his personal style still are much the same. One of the images does show two handguns rather than one, but there is no question who we are looking at, even with the different face.

We shouldn’t be surprised at the level of consistency between the concept art and the final outcome. After all, CD Projekt Red senior level designer Miles Tost has said they always planned on casting Keanu. He told Destructoid, “It was either him or no one. That was our mindset. We didn’t think ‘We need a star for this role,’ but rather ‘Hey, he might be the perfect character’ and luckily I guess it all worked out for us. It was almost organic how it happened. We made the character, we had our story, we were playing around with it — it became more and more apparent that it’d be really cool if we could get Keanu Reeves for it.”

While Cyberpunk 2077 has received praise since its release, it also has received a lot of criticism for how buggy it is. Recently, CD Projekt Red made a public commitment to fix the issues plaguing the game. Keep up with all Cyberpunk 2077 updates in our Cyberpunk 2077 news section.
