CD Projekt Red has been showing off plenty of new information about Cyberpunk 2077 in recent weeks, particularly through their Night City Wire series. However, the studio hasn’t touched on its plans for Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. Now, it seems that fans will have to wait until sometime post-launch.
Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Reveal Now Coming Post-Launch
It might seem obvious to say that, of course, fans will have to wait until after the game’s release to hear anything about Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. However, this actually wasn’t the original plan. CD Projekt Red were actually planning to reveal details about their post-launch plans prior to the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. Yesterday however, during a financial call, joint CEO Adam Kiciński said that; “The initial plan was to [reveal DLC plans] before release, but after the recent delay, we decided to wait for the release to provide gamers with the game and then start talking about future projects.”
Of course, the only post-launch Cyberpunk 2077 content that is already known about is multiplayer. This project will reportedly be launching as a standalone title sometime next year. With regards this particular project, Kiciński went on to say that; “Regarding multiplayer, we haven’t announced any date so far and actually, right now, it’s not the – I mean, it’s not the moment to talk about any business model for multiplayer. We’ll share our thoughts about next year once we will update our strategy. It will happen in Q1 next year, and that will be after releasing Cyberpunk. That will be the right moment to discuss deeper or all key aspects around future releases.”
So, it seems that gamers will have to wait until Q1 2021 before they get details about Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. The delay does make sense in the current context; were the studio to announce details now, some gamers might understandably question why the studio is announcing DLC plans after delaying the game so many times.
