Earlier today, CD Projekt Red made the official announcement that Cyberpunk 2077 will be making an appearance at E3 later this year. The announcement is hardly surprising, but it does rule a number of things out. Similarly, it gives fans a suggestion at what the marketing strategy will be for the game as the year progresses; especially in the lead-up to the Cyberpunk 2077 E3 appearance.
For those of you asking, yes, we will be at E3 this year.

Cyberpunk 2077 E3 Appearance Confirmed
It’s no great surprise that there will be a Cyberpunk 2077 E3 appearance this year; the game stole the show last year, despite releasing only one trailer, and was widely regarded as the most anticipated game of 2018. With only one pre-alpha gameplay demo released so far, and no release date, it was already expected that the game wouldn’t launch until late 2019 at the earliest. A more conservative estimate puts the game’s release in Q4 of 2019, which will actually fall in the first few months of 2020. With such estimates in mind, a big E3 appearance was anticipated for 2019.
Now that CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they will be showing Cyberpunk at E3; it’s almost guaranteed that Cyberpunk will be one of the biggest titles at the event. Fans should be able to expect much more than what was at E3 2018; likely more than one new trailer, and quite possibly a more up-to-date gameplay demo. CD Projekt Red will no doubt look to use the event to stoke hype leading up to the release.
However, what this also means is that fans are unlikely to see much of the game until then. Unless Cyberpunk 2077 is planned to release much earlier than expected, it makes sense for CD Projekt Red to keep things under wraps until E3. That marketing strategy worked extremely well for them last year, after all. Unfortunately, it means that we’re unlikely to see any new trailers until the event. It’s possible, if unlikely, that the studio could release pre-event teaser promotions, as Bethesda did last year for Fallout 76. For now, fans will have to wait and see.
