Gamers are eagerly awaiting their next look at Cyberpunk 2077, the upcoming sci-fi RPG from CD Projekt Red. So far, only one gameplay video has been released of the game; a 40-minute demo first shown behind closed doors at E3 2018 and later released to the public. It’s expected that the next look at gameplay will come at E3 this year, but according to the game’s Quest Director, fans may find that things look a little different.
Cyberpunk 2077 E3 Demo Isn’t Representative of How the Finished Game Will Look
According to Mateusz Tomszkiewicz, Quest Director for Cyberpunk 2077, the game is quite different to how it looked back in 2018. The comment was made in a recent interview with Spanish news website Area Jugones. Responding to a question about how the game is different from what was shown last year, Tomszkiewicz says; “The gameplay we saw last year was basically a small fragment of the game. There was not a clear picture of how the game fits into an open world or how it fits into a larger image of the game. […] there are things that we are still working on, then I would say that the game is quite different from the gameplay […]”
It’s unclear just how different the game might look, though visually it probably won’t be too different. More likely, differences will be in the game’s layout, UI, and such. Certainly, at the time that the demo was released last year, CD Projekt Red were clear that it was a very early look at the game still in development. Since then, the studio has been notoriously tight-lipped about the game’s development.
Indeed, CD Projekt Red still hasn’t revealed the Cyberpunk 2077 release date. The best informed estimates currently put the release window in Q4 of 2019; i.e., somewhere in the final months of 2019 or first few months of 2020. The studio recently announced that this year’s E3 would be their biggest ever. Certainly, current speculation is that the release date will finally be revealed at the event.
