The first Cyberpunk 2077 preorders have now appeared on Amazon. Moreover, Amazon is offering a considerable discount for customers who preorder early, set to disappear as we get closer to the game’s release date. Unfortunately, while the game may now be available for preorder, the release date listed on Amazon is naught but a placeholder.
Cyberpunk 2077 Preorders: Price and Release Date?
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on Amazon with a price tag of $59.99. However, in an early preorder sale, Amazon is listing a reduced price for subscribers to Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime users are able to preorder Cyberpunk 2077 for just $47.99; taking advantage of a 20% discount. Unfortunately, preorders are only available for the console versions of the game thus far. Fans looking to preorder Cyberpunk 2077 for that reduced price may wish to act soon. Amazon has plans to change their 20% Prime preorder discount with a new system, whereby the discount is replaced by $10 of Amazon credit. That deal will itself only be available on “select games”. That change is scheduled to go into place on the 28th of August, giving fans just a few days to take advantage of the current discount.
Amazon has not given details on how it will choose the “select games”. It’s also worth noting that any credit accrued on Amazon will expire after 60 days; thus giving customers a limited window to make use of it. The other detail available on the Cyberpunk 2077 preorder page is the game’s release date. Unfortunately, it most certainly isn’t the game’s actual release date, which has yet to be announced. At present, Amazon lists a release date of the 28th of December. That date is no doubt a placeholder until an actual date is given by CD Projekt Red.
As it stands, there is almost no chance that the game will release this year. It is far more likely to release in mid-to-late 2019, or even 2020. CD Projekt Red recently announced that the game was playable from beginning to end. However, it still lacks some of its assets, and there is still a great deal of testing and bug-fixing to do.
